The AV1 codec is on the way, which is an upgrade to the current codecs which are being used industry wide. It's being made by the Alliance of Open Media, which is a consortium of all the biggest tech companies in the world and it's promising to be royalty free as well. It will deliver a better streaming experience, which will have advantages for streaming services, gaming and more. When there's more information about the rollout of AV1 industry wide, then I'll be sure to report on the Gaming News.
The next bit of news for today is a prequel to The Witcher TV series called Blood Origin will be releasing in December of 2022 on Netflix. Season 3 of The Witcher will be coming out in the summer of 2023. Hopefully, for Witcher fans, it will keep you satisfied until there's more announcements about future games that CD Projekt Red is said to already be working on.
And the last bit of news for today is today is The Last of Us Day 2022 and there's speculation about a new trailer coming out for The Last of Us TV show, as well as hope for any information about the upcoming multiplayer game that they're working on.
