Square Enix released their financial report for the last tax year and it has been shown that Final Fantasy XIV's launch of the Endwalker expansion has helped Square Enix to gain some decent profits in the last tax year. There's been a lot of news about Square Enix lately because of the sale of their western studios, but they're intending to make new studios to focus on the IPs that they have left. Hopefully, things can improve at Square Enix. I am unsettled by all the news about investment in Blockchain and NFTs. In my opinion, they might as well withdraw the money from the bank and put it on a bonfire.
And the next bit of news for today is according to an article on Video Game Chronicle, the Nintendo President is focusing on the next console after the Nintendo Switch because the Nintendo Switch right now has actually outsold the PlayStation 4 in terms of game sales. And they want to make sure that people don't grow too attached to the Nintendo Switch and that they have more plans in the future for future game console releases. As soon as we get more details about it, I'll be sure to report it on the Gaming News.
As soon as we get more details about it, I'll be sure to report it on the Gaming News. And the last bit of news for today is the question has come up, could PlayStation be buying Konami? That is after leaks of Silent Hill were DMCA striked by Konami. Konami themselves posting record profits higher than they've ever posted before, which seems unusual. And also ResetEra saying that Sony (PlayStation) and Konami or the Bloober team specifically have entered an agreement to help with the next Silent Hill game. With all of that combined and with the amount of Gaming News I've published, I wonder if PlayStation is actually planning to acquire Konami. There was also previously a rumor that PlayStation would acquire Konami and then gift Silent Hill to Hideo Kojima to direct the next Silent Hill game. With all of that combined, we will see.
