Pocket Pair, who is a game developer based in Japan, tweeted out saying "Pocket Pair will provide an Elden holiday to all employees. The King of Elde does not have to go to work on Friday and Monday." They're giving paid leave to all employees last Friday and the upcoming Monday to play Elden Ring so that they can just get it out of their system. I think that's an interesting move for any employer to take.
And the next bit of news for today is Evo tweeted out saying "Please join us March 8 at 5 p.m. PST on twitch.tv/evo for the Evo 2022 announcement show. While we're thankful for all the amazing games joining us later this year in Las Vegas, we want to let you know in advance that Super Smash Bros. will not be making a return appearance. Since 2007, we've seen historic Super Smash Bros. moments created at Evo's events. We are saddened that Nintendo has chosen not to continue that legacy with us this year. In the future, we hope to once again celebrate the Super Smash Bros. community alongside them." For some reason, Nintendo is pulling out of Evo this year. If you're affected by it, please let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
And the last bit of news for today is Gabe Newell, who is the CEO of Valve, has had an interview with Edge magazine where he was talking about the launch of the Steam Deck and the fact that they're already planning and working on the Steam Deck 2. The plan is to make the Steam Deck a permanent addition to the PC gaming space. We will see if over time we get more Steam Deck versions just like we get PlayStation 3, 4, 5, and so on.
