Focus Home Interactive has acquired DotEmu in a deal which will allow them to work better with retro gaming. If you don't know, retro gaming means really old games like games you might have played in the arcade 20-30+ years ago. And basically it allows you to play the retro games or the old games on modern platforms. That's usually what they're aimed at. It's interesting to see gaming acquisition like this in the gaming industry.
The next bit of news for today is Xbox Cloud Streaming is now going to be its own app and is now available to download on the Microsoft Store. So what that basically is, is that if you have an Xbox Ultimate Game Pass, the Ultimate level, then you can stream games directly to your PC so you can already download them via Game Pass to play them locally if you want to. But with the streaming, you're able to stream them directly from Microsoft servers, so you don't have to download them. You don't have to install them and so on, which can be great if you're out and about if you just want to try a game or you don't want to download it and stuff like that. Know that that is an option. I have reviewed other streaming services in the past like GeForce Now and Google Stadia and stuff like that. And I did try out xCloud the second it was announced, and it was interesting. I mean, I'll probably make a review about it over my main gaming channel at some point in the future to talk about how it compares to other platforms and stuff like that.
And then the last bit of news for today, talking again about Xbox is Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice is now being teased as being optimised for Xbox Series X and S as well. So if you haven't had a chance to jump in yet, the game explores the mental anguish that the main character, Senua, is facing from the loss of a loved one and the voices in her head you hear them. There's multiple voices you'll hear in Senua's head throughout the gameplay experience, and you get led down a dark, winding road on her path through her psychosis. So it's a very, very interesting game. It definitely had a huge impact on me. When it came out, I get choked up even thinking about it.
